**Since deaths were not reported until 1878 and death certificates were
not a law until 1916, there are other good sources for deaths such as the
following files to click on.

1850 Census Mortality Index -
(There are no death certificates for 1850 so the 1850 Mortality Noncensus
schedule could help researchers.)
